Hi guys, we have done the final tally on our pancake day and we raised just under 4,000 euro.  We were a bit disappointed - some things worked very well, particularly the corporate canteen side, but other elements didn't generate the same level of funds.  However, we have certainly learned a lot from running it and we are hoping that next year's party will be bigger and better, and more profitable than this year!

We are delighted to welcome two new directors to our Board!  Dr Mary Manandhar is an antropologist and expert in child nutrition and women's health, who spent 12 years living and working in Nepal.  Born in the UK, she married a Nepali man and speaks fluent Nepali, and she lives in the north west of Ireland.  She worked for many NGO's and INGO's in Nepal, including UNICEF, and she brings a great love and knowledge of Nepal and the context and culture where we work, as well as a lot of programme design and in-country funding expertise.

Pancake Day is really taking off - we have KPMG, A&L Goodbody and ArcRoyal now signed up since Friday night!  And most of the Latin Quarter.  We got great PR last week - there's a great shot of a few of us flipping pancakes on Quay St, and I was on the Tom Dunne show on NewsTalk 106FM giving it a push, and likewise on KCLR FM, and we got a mention in the Irish Independent, Sunday Business Post, Sunday World, Offaly Express, and others, so well done to my team on all their hard work!

Hope everyone is keeping well!  Foundation Nepal was up for two awards last week, a Mayor's Award from the Mayor of Galway, and we were finalists in the Ulster Bank Business Achievers Award in the social entrepreneurship category for Connacht.  We didn't win, but both were lovely events and very enjoyable!

Tuesday 8th March is Pancake Tuesday, and it's also International Women's Day, so we thought that, as a lot of our work is focused on women in Nepal, it would be appropriate to highlight their lives, and to do a fundraiser on the day.
